Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) and Internet giant Baidu signed another strategic cooperation agreement on October 26 focusing on developing Internet of Vehicles (IoV) services in order to accelerate the application of IoV technologies in China, according to local media.
The newly-signed agreement will make the cooperation between two companies comprehensively upgraded in both technology research and application. Great Wall Motor will work on the in-vehicle all-around multimode interactive AI experience for users by utilizing Baidu's capabilities of the IoV OS (operating system), vehicle-mounted visual AI technologies and car-borne intelligent voice technologies.
The latest cooperation involves several IoV-related themes, including the technologies, ecosystem as well as content. With regard to the ecosystem, the Internet company will let GWM use its technologies that could interlink smart home appliances with in-vehicle facilities via methods of video and data channels, etc., offering round-the-clock services to GWM's car owners.
Another spotlight for the cooperation is that Baidu will supply its open multimode interactive IoV OS for GWM with the goal of enhancing drivers’ driving experience.
Meanwhile, both companies agreed to initiate businesses of user management, covering such sectors as car-borne applications, data package, automobile insurance, renewal of service contract as well as vehicle management. The cooperative achievements between Baidu and GWM will be applied across the entire products' lineup of Haval brand.
